Our Fourth

Upon waking our sun-soaked bodies from a well-needed night's rest, we filled our aching bellies with Poppy's homemade french toast, got dressed, sprayed ourselves with practically bullet-proof SPF 85 and headed to the street's end for the town's annual Fourth of July parade.

Enjoying the flashy lights, colorful costumes and almost-too-warm morning sun were my handsome hubby and baby dude, celebrating his first Fourth of July holiday.

First Fourth of July
Waving to the paraders was my five-year-old, hopeful that this would be a parade in which they threw out candy to the passers-by (and luckily for him, he was right).

Apparently, this town's parade had a super hero theme we weren't made aware of until it was too late, or else we would've been clad with our own costumes from home. A lot of the floats had some sort of capes, masks and costumed favorites, much to my children's surprise and enjoyment.

Do you not see the ridiculous amount of cute in this car? THE DOG is all dolled up for the holiday, festive hat and all!

This gymnast impressively did twenty-something rotations while this float drove down the street. Isn't that crazy!?

The original super heroes - what an adorable float this was!

Overall, it was an endearing parade, filled with smiles, waves, giggles and super hero fun. Tonight will be an array of swimming, barbecued foods, homemade salads, unbuttoned pants and fireworks from everywhere alive in the sky above us. I hope it's as magical for you as it's been for us.

Happy Fourth of July!
