A Photo Recap of #Blogher10

How do you put into words memories like this?

Meeting Jennie Garth

Do you see the huge grin on my daughter's face? That's the "I can't wait to show all the kids at school," "This family trip doesn't suck," "My mom is pretty cool for bringing me to this event" face. (Well, maybe not the last one.)

Why Music Ruins My Mojo

{Warning: Video contains me. Being a dork. You're welcome.}

Doing my best to get everything done, posts written, deadlines met, and so I throw on some tunes. Why this was, without a question, a bad idea.

Yes, you can catch this milkshake (quite literally, I'm still breastfeeding) at BlogHer in a week-and-a-half, thanks to the partial sponsorship from Constructive Playthings. Be sure to thank them profusely for helping me bring awesome dance moves to the conference.

My Ten-Year-Old Photographer (and The Story of the New Headshot)

I needed to submit a head-shot of myself to a new website I'm going to be working with (stay tuned for that announcement!), except the head-shots that I already had weren't the best. Neither my husband nor myself really know what the heck we're doing with this camera most times, so it's of no surprise that we got the big #FAIL back from the company stating we needed a redo, along with instructions on how to do it. Yikes.

Knowing that I didn't even know if my camera had a timer setting on it or not, I needed help, and all I had available were children ten-years-old and below. I opted for the safest option - the oldest of the bunch. He very carefully put my camera strap around his neck (because I'm a nervous-nelly about dropping it) and he knew right away what to do, how to twist the lens and what button to push. I was impressed, I guess he has been observing me :) I explained that what I needed was a solid background behind me, so I decided I was going to kneel in the grass to have the grass behind me.

I explained that we had to take a test shot when, mid-sentence, I heard "Snap!" I wasn't ready yet. Someone was apparently eager.

After he showed me what the test shot looked like, and I directed him to zoom in a bit, he obliged and shifted. But then I noticed him doing freaky things with the other hand holding the camera (not the hand depressing the shutter-release) "Snap!" And again, another picture when I wasn't ready. Thank goodness these were test-shots.

"Hmm. Okay, you still need to zoom in some. Here, let me show you.." and so I twisted the lens and zoomed it in all the way and handed it back to him. Before I had the chance to even look at him let alone smile, he snapped it. Again. Frick, man.

"Okay, dude. Here's how we're going to work this.." I began. "First, I'm going to smile, see? 'Cuz it's kind-of important that my head-shot have a smiling picture, and not a picture of me making funny faces, y'know?" {He laughed. I laughed. He snapped. This ended up being the picture I used.}

Unfortunately, my shirt was still doing crazy-stuff, so, with the editing wonders of Picnik.com (in all their shirt-cropping, color-deepening, wrinkle-removing, under-eye-contouring, airbrushing glory. Ahem.), here's the end result.

He didn't do such a bad job, huh?

Construct

Construct [v. kuhn-struhkt; n. kon-struhkt] Verb: to build or form by putting together parts; frame; devise. Geometry- to draw (a figure) fulfilling certain given conditions. Noun: something constructed. an image, idea, or theory, esp. a complex one formed from a number of simpler elements.
I've had quite a lot of things being constructed around me as of late - ideas constructed to redo my house. Constructing things in my home, constructing solutions to problems.

Then, there's these beasts we brought home from the thrift store to refinish.
(Why did I think this would be an easy task?)

They are now on my back porch, in all their 1960s glory (we guesstimate, we found old letters stuck behind the drawers from then). We spent today stripping two thick, ancient coats of paint off of them (the mustard yellow you see and a white coat underneath). It's no where near as easy as we I thought it was going to be, but oh so cathartic to get dirty to create something special. The anticipation of the finish product makes me feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. I can't wait!

And then there was this art project I absolutely had to construct. I had the perfect frame for it, one that I rescued from my neighbors trash (gasp!). It was such a gorgeous frame, but I had nothing big enough to go in it, until now.

All hand-cut, hand-written, with crinkle scissors to give it flair and lots of sketching to get each individual font just right. Imperfect, yet absolutely perfect. I used tape, Glue Dots and wrenched my aching back and neck over it all day. A lot of love and concentration went into making this, but it feels remarkably awesome to have poured myself into creating something again, constructing these things to better our home. I can't wait until I repair the piano wire on the back of the frame so we can hang it on the dining room wall (it split the second we tried to hang it. Damn.)

Last (but not least), I'm not just constructing at home, but in the bloggy-world, too. Constructive Playthings has asked me and eleven other bloggers to become the new Constructive Playthings Moms: I, along with Lee, Allie, Karen, Keri, Melissa, Dwan, Jody, Tenille, Gina, Bridgette, and Kimberly, will be reviewing and hosting some spectacular toy giveaways in the coming months. I hope you'll check it out, I'm excited to work with these wonderful ladies!

Now, if you don't mind, I see a hot bath in my future to scrub off today's sweat from a hard day's work. Back at it again tomorrow. Whew!

To Do Tuesday Week 52 - ONE YEAR OLD!

If this is your first time reading and you're wondering what To-Do Tuesday is all about, click to check out the first post to find out more.
Crazy Adventures in Parenting To-Do Tuesday
It's official!! To Do Tuesday is officially a year old! Woo hoo!

To celebrate, I plan on purchasing for one lucky To Do Tuesday-er one of these GORGEOUS Mini List Takers by Bits 'n Pieces, etc on Etsy (shown there on the right). I went searching one day and found these, and I think they are the cah-yoo-test things ever! Available in many fabric choices, they hold mini legal pad and a mini pen/mechanical pencil with a pocket to hold coupons, receipts, tickets, or, well anything you can fit there. Like me. I want to fit there, and carry myself in this. (It doesn't matter if I'm too big. Are you not seeing the cuteness here?!)

Is this not the most adorable creation? I am such a sucker for pink and browns, too. This fabric in particular is called "City Girl" by Kitty Yoshida. I need to buy the heck out of it and make curtains and bed spread for my girls, I love it that much. {ahem}

Back to celebrating - I want to personally thank every person who has ever participated in To Do Tuesday this year:
Thanks to each and every one of you for sharing your list each week with us. Please, feel free to join us this week and link up your to do list for the chance to win that super-sweet etsy find above (in your choice of fabric)! (Note: one winner will be pulled from participating To Do Tuesday-ers on Tuesday, February 23rd)

This week, for my one-year To Do Tuesday anniversary list, here's what I have planned:

*Buy that fabric (above), because it is made of awesome and just owning it will make me happy
*Try not to eat my body weight in chocolate or sweets, as we have entirely too many in this house at present (dang Valentine's Day)
*Work out like a madwoman, we're on dessert overload here
*Get more of my declutterin' groove on!
*Grocery shopping/print coupons/list for this week
*External hard drive to the computer doctor
*Call IRS (yikes!)

Staying on my diet every day* (hello desserts, be kind to momma)
Work out on EAS Active More Workouts all week?* (Preferably, twice daily. I feel my ass growing already. Damn tasty chocolates!)

*Um. I call "V-day Week Off" - mainly because I'm too scaredy-cat afraid to hop on and see how much I might've gained from our feast 'n stuff. {ahem}

Today's motivation - celebration! Celebrate everything today - big, small and the in between. I love having celebrations and continuing the festivities days after, like eating birthday cake for breakfast the day after. So much fun! Try it, I bet you'll love it, too.

--

Would you like to join us this week for To-Do Tuesday? Start with just a few things. Don't over-do it your first couple of times. You'll grow to become a list-a-holic later, start small now, though, k?
Just so you know, you can join us at anytime, it doesn't have to be on Tuesdays - the list will go up every Tuesday for you to link to, but you can make your list and link to us at any point in the week!

Remember, with "To-Do Tuesday", we're attacking our to-do lists each week, blogging about our lists and what we've got going on, and sharing it with each other to help keep each other accountable. Everyone should come back here to link up in the MckLinky as the central "To-Do Tuesday Hub" so we can visit who's participating and offer encouragement to each other throughout the week. Don't forget to add the "To-Do Tuesday" button to your post, linking back to this post!

Let's continue to cross items off our list as we go and help support each other in completing our lists! Don't forget my useful HTML tutorial on how to effectively "cross-out" or √ "check off" your items on your to-do list!

Joining us? Please add your link below (to your To Do Tuesday post, and not the main page of your blog)

For My Friends

Written by Heather from The Extraordinary Ordinary

When Lisa asked me to guest post, I knew right away I wanted to send her a post about friends. That's because Lisa and I met nearly two years ago, right here, through blogging and she's become one. Lisa is that kind of girl, isn't she? The kind of girl that knows how to be a good friend. So thank you, Lisa. For asking me to grace this lovely space of yours. And for being the kind of friend that loves me just as I am.

For My Friends

I've always had amazing friends. For as long as I can remember, very faithful friends. These are the kind of friends that become family as they fluff their pillows and hang their memory pictures right here in my heart.

There are a number of women in my life that came along a long time ago and some I've not known as long. They're all here in their very own heart spaces, shaking out the dusty rugs below their memory pictures every so often. No matter what else they're doing here, they're mostly turning on lamps in the dark spaces and speaking a language only we know.

The night before one of my friends got married, she gave me a card that said, "Tomorrow is happening largely because of you." She wrote about how our friendship had taught her that a person can see the beautiful and the ugly, really see it, in someone else, and then that person can still love unconditionally.

After seeing the very worst, we stayed...

"You probably have the most accurate picture of me, and still you are my friend."

Isn't that what we want from friendship? Someone who doesn't turn from our dark corners, but reaches for the lamp and our hand at the same time? Don't we want someone who shakes out our heart rugs not because they can't stand the dirt, but because they want us to have that feeling of clean, that freedom from lies and from faking? I love that about real friendship. And the laughter. I love the laughter, shaking all the chambers and knocking some of the more unwanted pictures right off the walls.

It's good.

For Karissa

For Karissa Prissy GreenI found this on the internet, and it seemed fitting today, as we light candles in her memory today. I want to believe she's still here, about to email, or post something amazing. I admired her, and feel broken to have learned she is no longer with us.

I'M STILL HERE
Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

I miss you, honey. Sweet dreams.

My Weight Loss Story and Tips to Help You Lose Weight

2009 was *the year* of years for me in terms of becoming healthier and finally shedding "the weight". I did it, I battled the "baby-weight war" and freakin' won, man! I successfully lost 35 lbs by making smarter food choices and working out utilizing the Wii (and a little ingenuity)! Woo hoo!

I still cannot believe what I see.

Lisa's Weight LossAfter having had "the weight" on for many years, and even losing some of it a time or two, circumstances always came up which caused it to come back on, mostly my laziness and unwillingness to stick to it. I guess that's probably what it all boils down to, is my lack of wanting to continue to work hard to maintain it. I wanted it to be easy to be thin, again, such as it was when I was younger.

All my life, I could eat what I want, and do what I wanted because I had such a high metabolism. One day while pregnant with my oldest son, I began to bleed. After a trip to the doctors, I was placed on bed rest to ensure he was okay (and he most certainly is, he just turned ten). This unfortunately killed my metabolism, sitting on my rear, not moving for almost two months straight. I went from that person who couldn't sit still and could eat everything in sight, to someone who still wanted to eat everything in sight, but was too unhealthy to do anything about it. Thus, my battle with my weight began.

Last year, I'd had enough. I had to do it, I had to lose weight. I couldn't survive another summer in Louisiana overweight, such as I was. I began my New Year's resolution a little late, though, by starting in late March 2009, but I dove right in, did it, stuck to it, and was successful, final-fricken-ly!

This year, my resolution is no longer to "lose the weight", but to "stay healthy and fit." (I am in awe, this will be the first year in a decade I'm not wishing to lose weight!) I'm thoroughly enjoying my "new" body, and want to do all I can to keep it that way.

Because it's New Year's resolution time, Mandi of Organizing Your Way asked me to write some tips that might help others with a similar weight loss goal, by contributing to her fantastic series, 31 Days of Organizing for a Better 2010: More than Resolutions. Each day, a blogger shares their idea regarding a specific topic related to improving your life and setting realistic goals for the new year. And Mandi's goal today? Losing weight and getting healthier.

31 Days of Organizing for a Better 2010: Lose Weight

I thought I'd share with you five important tips I've used to help me lose weight, who knows, it might help you, too.

1. Ditch the excess salt.
Often times, when wanting to lose weight, you'll hear "cut out fat," or "eat more veggies," but you seldom hear anything about cutting back or eliminating salt. Sure, salt may have no calories and isn't fattening, but it does aid in weight gain by adding unnecessary water weight. Check your food and beverage labels - I bet you'll find ridiculously high amounts in some of those so-called "diet" foods. They add a ton of salt just to make it taste "good."

Look before you eat - if you're stuck with eating out, or eating something already processed, or are planning on preparing something from a package, jar, or can - check the sodium content, and choose lower-sodium foods. While some salt is necessary in your diet, too much salt isn't good for you, for your blood pressure or your weight-loss goals. If you're looking for a good substitute, check out Mrs. Dash, or sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese in your sauces.

2. Make your own.
Some of you already know, I'm a big homemade-food buff. Even if you aren't like me, I might tantalize you to the "dark side" by telling you, you don't actually have to give up your favorite foods when dieting. (Go ahead, repeat that to yourself. Let it sink in for a second.)

I, personally, love ranch dressing, chicken wings, burgers and pizza. However, instead of purchasing these items from a restaurant in order to give into my desires, we make our own in a "healthified" way. Instead of using beef, I use turkey to make my burgers. Instead of chicken wings, we use breasts or tenders without the fatty skin, and make our own sauce, baking it (like boneless wings you might find elsewhere). I make my own low-fat ranch dressing weekly, to enjoy. Pizza, too, is pretty simple to make, creating your own dough, own sauce, and choosing healthy toppings.

3. Break up with sugar.
Oh, I know. You just groaned, didn't you. How dare I ask you to give up your coveted friend, especially at that time of the month. I know, oh, I know. But too much is, well, too much. For almost a year, I've used Truvia in my coffee, and I know that by making this choice and choosing low-in sugar foods, I've helped myself lose the weight and keep it off. Does this stop me from partaking in birthday cake or cookies with my children? Heck no! But, in moderation, once in a while, as a treat, not everyday. I also throw in a run, or extra work out, to counteract the extra calories when I do choose to celebrate with a little sugar. Because, honestly, while it may taste amazing, sugar is nothing but extra, empty calories.

4. Make fiber your BFF.
I know, you're probably a parent reading this and already dealing with enough crap from dirty diapers, but trust me when I tell you, worry about your ability to produce it, too. A healthy colon is a must for sustaining health and helping your lose weight, period. I mean, how many pounds can you expect to see lost on the scale if you aren't purging waste daily? Binding up = weight gain.

For years I had terribly stomach-aches, not knowing I had a lot of "plaque" and toxins which slowed me up over time. To stay healthy, I drink plenty of water, a daily protein shake with added fiber, and I take one or two fiber supplements every time I eat food. It might sound like a lot, but that's what my body needs to remain under control, and I do it because I know it's only helping me stay healthy, regular, and keeping my weight under control.

5. Work it out.
You didn't think I was going to not mention exercise, did you? Dieting alone isn't going to get you to your weight loss goals, you have to add movement along with it. There are many conventional things you can do at home to work out without fancy gym memberships or expensive fitness machines. My best advice is to pretend you're a kid again, and do what you did as a child. Walk the block. Dance and work up a sweat. Jump on a trampoline. Do squats, push-ups and sit-ups (like in gym class). Jump rope. Hula hoop. Ride a bike. Roller skate.

My favorite part is finding new ways to incorporate my kids into doing something physical, like lifting my smaller children above my head up and down repeatedly (arm work out), or laying on the floor, pressing them up like super-heroes, up and down repeatedly (leg work out). We love to jog in place, dance like silly people, and wrestle during tickle wars. There's nothing says fitness can't be fun!

Another benefit to getting the kids involved? Not only is it fun family time spent together, but it's an instant, close-knit support system for you, working out with you. I mean, who would be better for you than them?

My final recommendations to you are:
  • Don't cram a meal all at once. Eat a little here and there throughout the day. Help fire that metabolism up, and keep it going, with several smaller meals than three big ones. You may feel hungry a lot, but hunger is good, it means it's working, and your metabolism is burning what you've eaten quickly.
  • Do something aerobic after you eat. Keep that metabolism pumping. Take a walk with your kids, dance while you sweep, vacuum vigorously, do something, anything to get your heart pumping.
  • Make a plan. Write it out, in a post (like I did), exactly what you want to accomplish. You can't achieve your goal without a goal in mind. And specify how you're going to do it, and what you're going to use to get you there (for instance, I said I was cutting back on late night snacking, choosing healthier food options, and using the Wii Fit).
  • Take some "before" pictures. It's good to have those to refer to once you're on your way, working out, and making changes, to document how far you've come. You don't have to post them if you're not comfortable posting them, but my suggestion is to at least take them for your reference. Give yourself that bird's eye view to yourself.
  • Keep track of your measurements. Sometimes you won't see a change on the scale, and it might get you down and make you second guess how well you're really doing. Keeping track of certain measurements will help motivate you, even if there's no pounds lost that week. Start out with beginning measurements for your neck, chest, waist, hips, thighs, calves, ankles and wrists. Alongside it, keep track of your bra size, shirt, pant and shoe size as well. These will, over time, change, too. Don't forget to date them!
I hope you find these tips helpful, I know they've helped me greatly. Please let me know how and what you're doing to lose weight, I'd love to join you and be your fitness buddy, if you'd like one!

Have a happy and healthy New Year!

Candlelight Thoughts

I let the ferocious "momma bear" instinct get the better of me earlier when I became defensive on behalf of Shellie, as she fielded many attacks from those doubting and questioning her loss on Twitter.

It became simply too much to bear, I had to step away. How can people be so cruel in a mother's darkest hour? Speculate all you want, naysayers, wish for confirmation and verification if you do not know her and don't take her's and other's words at face value, if you are concerned this wasn't actually true (in light of this year's events, like Balloon Boy), but there was absolutely NO NEED to attack and vilify this mourning mother and hide behind your right to freedom of speech to accomplish it. Paint it any way you wish, but it's hate, pure and simple.

Do not forget they sent her husband home from fighting to protect that very freedom you trampled on in order to mourn the son you doubted had actually passed.

Things I wish I wrote about this subject:

"Why is tweeting for prayers any different than picking up the phone and calling friends or family?" - Greg @ TellingDad.com

"A mother who has lost a child is entitled to ask for medication, run around naked or quite simply, reach out to her network of support - even if they are online." - Danielle at ExtraordinaryMommy.com

Today, in lieu of my normal crazy parenting picture depicting one or more of my many children, filled with life and breath and beating hearts I have a renewed gratefulness for, please light a candle today in memory of Shellie's son, Bryson, and pray for peace for their family as they say their last goodbyes to his baby hair, his long eyelashes, his soft skin and small hands. May the warmth from the fire be felt by her, blanketing her in love and support during this trying time for her family.

Fellow Military Wife Shellie Needs Prayers

Shellie and Baby DudeLet me introduce you to a good friend of mine, Shellie, a fellow military wife and blog-friend (holding my Baby Dude).

She has suffered an unimaginable loss. Her youngest, only two-years-old, was found at the bottom of their pool at their new home, and died.

My heart bleeds for her. Words can't even begin to describe my grief for her and her family tonight. Nothing comes from me but sobbing and anger over their tragic loss.

Children aren't supposed to go before us, you know? I wring my fists in anger and sadness. Just a baby, dammit!! Shellie just moved into her dream house. She was going through the wringer, having to watch as hubby went overseas again with a huge move just before the holidays.

This is a woman who held my Baby Dude at the Type A Mom Conference, cuddling, spoiling him by letting him have free reign over her iPhone while I sat, panicked nearby, as I watched him drop it right to the ground. But Shellie, she laughed and told me to calm down and not to worry, she 'had it covered' literally. That's Shellie for you, she's that tough cookie that always has it handled, eleventy-billion balls up in the air at once and she manages juggling it with style. She's that person who you're just drawn to, in all her humor and caring behind the gigantic smile that warms you like the sun.

Shellie and Baby Dude
Many may not realize, but we first became friends when we both discovered we were both military wife bloggers earlier this year. She, too, had entered the Protect-A-Bed contest, and she bowed out of the contest asking Kim, the contest's host, to shift her votes over to me. She merely wanted to win the contest for extra money for her trip (for a mini-laptop), but, after speaking with hubby, wanted me to win so she could get to meet me. I cried the day she bowed out, and our sisterhood was born that very day.

Please, if you pray, pray for her family. As soon as I have details on how to help, I will pass those along to you.

Tonight, I am going to mourn her loss with my family and see what I can do to help attempt to ease her pain.

My heart is with you, honey.

Happy Blogsgiving Day 4 - Rhea from Mommy23Monkeys

Rhea from Mommy23MonkeysRhea (pronounced REE-AH) is adorable. I had the chance to meet her when we both went to NYC for the Ninja/Euro Pro event. (And we didn't get any pictures taken together. Poo!) She's married to her husband, Bob, and is a stay-at-home mom to her three sons, two of which are twins!

Rhea is a surrogate-mother, who's given birth to TRIPLETS a couple years back! Wowzers! And.. AND she is pregnant again with another surrogacy! Go Rhea! She talks about it on her blog. A couple weeks ago she had a scare with this one, but all is well now, she feels the baby wiggle!

She loves off-roading and camping. I'm also really proud to have learned she adopted a soldier for the holidays.

She is the real deal, folks, truly a giver. Why not give her some bloggy love and take a peek at her newly designed site? I hope you decide to subscribe and visit her sweet self often :)

Happy Blogsgiving Day 3 - Karissa from Prissy Green

Karissa from Prissy GreenKarissa from Prissy Green has taught me things about organics and going green that I didn't even know. And kids, I love me some organics and greenie items, and she's schoolin' me, yo.

Karissa lives with the love of her life, Craig, in way-too-far-away-from-me Indianapolis, with her super sweet fur-baby rescue dogs Bayles and Bleu.

She offers many product reviews and giveaways about all-things health, organics, and natural. Did you know she just won The Body Shop's Naturally Beautiful Blog Award? I absolutely adore her site, it isn't just a "review" site, she's really learning and teaching right alongside these products and businesses. I won my Hoopnotica hula hoop from her, and other than the fact that I apparently am SUCKTASTIC at the hoop, I've learned a great deal from her, such as how to make baby bath oil and DIY hand sanitizer, making your own rosemary mint foot scrub, or how she finally was able to cure acne naturally.

She offers a wealth of information, and? She's super-cute and ridiculously sweet. So go! Now! Go see her, stick around and read a while, subscribe because you know you want to, OH! And please vote for her in the Divine Caroline contest, too! Cuz you're awesome like that.

Happy Blogsgiving Day 2 - Andy from The Creative Junkie

Oh hell, I love her. LOOOOVE her. Andy from The Creative Junkie is such a spitfire of a person, who makes you laugh. out. loud. And hard.

She is married, living in New York, and has two daughters. And is brilliantly funny, holy hell!

I mean, who else would call the pen tool from Photoshop Satan, or her eyebrows Whackadoodle-ish. Who will teach you how to teach your teenager to drive? And her posts about her mother, holy crap, I almost peed.

She is made of awesome, and is an enigma, for real, yo. Go visit her, and don't forget to subscribe or follow her on Twitter, mm'kay? :)

Happy Blogsgiving Day 1 - Cat from 3 Kids and Us

Happy Blogsgiving! This week we're profiling fellow bloggers we love to help celebrate being thankful, want to join us? Link up below!

Cat from 3KidsandUsMy first showcased blogger - Cat from 3 Kids and Us. What can I say about Cat? I absolutely adore her, she cracks me up to no end and I relate a lot to her, even if she isn't a minivan-drivin' momma anymore. *sniff*

Cat has three children (obviously with the name of her blog, duh), and is married to her police-officer husband. They currently live in Illinois (aka too damn far away from me).

Whether it's bribe-worthy videos of children, or capturing elusive toofers, we have tons in common and she is such fun person to know and read.

If you're looking for any help Wordpress-wise, Cat is your man err woman! She also offers blog help on her blog, she really knows her stuff ;)

Oh, and do you see how gorgeous her blog is? She designs, too! She is a master at Blogger-to-Wordpress switches, along with designing, even though she won't ever get me to go to the dark side (Wordpress). {evil giggle}

She also just started her food blog, Food for 5, which is not only beautifully designed, but has great recipes, too. (Um, Loaded Baked Potato soup! Hello!)

Don't forget to subscribe while you're there, and follow her on Twitter. I bet you'll love her as much as I do :)

Happy Blogsgiving!

In honor of my birthday and of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, Trisha from Sweet and Sassy Girls and I have come up with a Happy Blogsgiving blog hop. We want to show our thanks to some of our great online friends, as well as spread some awesome blog love.

During the week of November 23rd to November 27th, we will be showcasing a few bloggers on our blogs, one each day, with a master MckLinky up for you to link up on. To participate, all you have to do is post about 5 (or more!) of your bloggy friends, one post a day. Share with us what makes them special. Be sure to link back to us in your post, and come back here to link up. Don't forget to visit other bloggers participating, too, and see who they're featuring this week, and maybe meet a few new friends in the process! Help us in spreading the bloggy love and gratefulness this week. What do you think? Grab a button, why not join us?

Before we begin, can I throw a little bloggy love my co-host's way? Trisha currently lives in Utah with her husband and daughter (isn't her daughter adorable?) and is the owner of Sweet and Sassy Girls. She's a stay-at-home mom who is actually a Master Aesthetician (aka kickass at skincare). They only have one child right now but are hoping to add to that number in the near future. ;)

I aspire to do some of what she's done for her daughter - have you seen some of the awesome tutorials Trisha has? (Are you seein' where I'm getting all my tutu-ey goodness, now?) She rocks her sewing machine's socks. I wanna rock mine and be that good some day, too. Keep kickin' butt, sister!

Woohoo, are you excited about the Happy Blogsgiving blog hop? I hope you are! Link up here!

Don't forget to tweet and Facebook about it, too! The more the merrier! Happy Blogsgiving!
